From the recording Music Is The Ride
This song had it's inspiration in a Rumi poem. He's been dead for nearly a thousand years but alive in my own heart. The idea is if God isn't with you, you cannot rest, but when God is with you, you don't wish to sleep. Of course if you wish, you can believe it's about a woman. . . well it is 2021 now. Thanks to Patrick Russini for suggesting the talk beneath the jam at the end of the song.
This is a song we kind of kicked ourselves for not having on the first album so it's only fitting that founder of the band, Jeff Hocker, would play some kick ass bass on this recording. Thanks Jeff.
Lyrics
Two Insomnias
Words and Music
by Richard Schulman
There are two different insomnias
Two ways I don’t sleep
One happens when we’re apart
The other when
You’re here with me
When we are not together
I’m aching for your touch
And then when you return to me
My joy is just too much
Two insomnias
One of joy one of pain
One harsh as the desert sun
One gentle as summer rain
I’ll stay up half the night
Waiting for your call
Or talking with such delight
Don’t notice time at all
Two different insomnias
I don’t get much rest
I’ll sleep next lifetime
I think that would be best
Two insomnias
One of joy one of pain
One harsh as the desert sun
One gentle as summer rain
Two insomnias
One of joy one of pain
One harsh as the desert sun
One gentle as summer rain
There are two different insomnias
Two ways I don’t sleep
One happens when we’re apart
The other when
You’re here with me
I don’t sleep
I don't sleep
I can't sleep
When you're not
Here with me
I don't sleep
I don't sleep
I don't sleep
I don't sleep
I don't sleep
I don't sleep
I don't sleep
I don't sleep
I don't sleep
