Dreamwalkers: Ready to Play. . .

Hey Dreamwalkers out there,

We sure are having fun rehearsing but are more than ready to play out. Some dear friends have offered us the opportunity to play at a semi-private party, so if you would like to be part of our celebration, contact me by leaving a message in any way that works, such as. . .on this website, by my e-mail dr.richardschulman@yahoo.com, by Facebook IM, yelling really loud or sending up smoke signals. When time and date is finalized I will confirm invitations. It will be tons of fun so please let me know if you'd like to join us.

In the meantime, we are adding songs we love. Debbie wrote a really wonderful new song about relationships called "You." The band loves it. We began preparing one of my favorite cover songs "Boys of Summer." Tony just nails the guitar on that one. Dave is getting the lead vocal on several covers and he knocks the ball out of the park on every one. The band played my original song, "The Outsider" spectacularly. Our heartbeat, Daniel changes gears smoothly with the many moods and musical styles we express.

Personally, I'm having the time of my life. What's next? Our album will be done by late spring and we are going to enjoy playing for you.

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Dreamwalkers Album: Vocal Recording Initiated and Debbie Stern Hits a Home Run

Hi to all Dreamwalkers out there,

Debbie Stern and I went over to Alpha Ear Studio to work with Patrick Russini on the vocals for Dreamwalkers upcoming album. Debbie worked on two of her songs, Louisiana Playing On My Mind and Somethin' About That Boy. Let me tell you, it was such a privilege to be with her while she unfolded some incredibly beautiful and creative tracks. Her voice is so gorgeous and her ability to figure out harmonies and background vocals is unparalleled. There were times when I just had to sit back and let the vibration flow through me and be in awe of the process. She hit home run after home run.

Watching the dynamic between Debbie and Patrick was so cool. Patrick suggested that Debbie do a "John Lennon" in which she re-sang the leads and harmonies so he could get a stronger feel in the track. I've heard about this and while he backs off the second one so you can't really hear it, the difference is visceral. You can feel it. The technique is uncanny and very effective and it helps to have an excellent vocalist like Debbie to make it happen.

Patrick had spent some time working on a pre-mix of the tracks and they gave us a preview of what is coming. The tracks are sweet and powerful. There is definitely a Dreamwalkers sound emerging, but the songs have their own quality as well. We will be moving through the vocals and then Tony Sheppard will be putting his lead guitar wizardry on the project. We are hoping to have something by mid-spring.

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Debbie's focus and concentration as she sings is remarkable.

Dreamwalkers: Myakka Gig Postponed

Hi Dreamwalkers Family and Friends,

Our gig at Myakka Moonlighters has been postponed until May 8, so I'll give everyone updates as we approach that date. Hopefully we will be playing out around town before then. It's a little frustrating as the band is ready to play out, but we will find something soon.

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Dreamwalkers: Last Tuneup Before Myakka Moonlighters

Hello to all Dreamwalkers out there. . . this means YOU!

The band had a wonderful rehearsal Wednesday evening in preparation for our gig Saturday from 6-9 at Myakka Moonlighters. It is my privilege to be playing with such wonderful musicians. Let me make sure you know who they are.

Lead guitar Tony Sheppard (Mysterious Angel) is a guitar wizard. Just when I think I've heard everything he can do, he surprises me. His playing is rich, melodic, and heartfelt. He can also kick ass in the finest rock and roll tradition. Look for his Road Song and what will follow. He will blow your socks off (if that's your idea of a good time).

Dave Ross plays bass guitar, guitar, and sings leads and harmonies. Dave has put his heart and soul into the band and I so appreciate his willingness to learn all of our original songs and be such a great spirit in the Dreamwalkers project. His growth as a musician and confidence to let himself go have been impressive. He sings lead with great passion and skill.

Daniel Polyak is the heartbeat of Dreamwalkers Band. He plays with heart and soul in every song. He values the art of music, as do I, and is my brother from a different mother. Daniel feels the spirit of the song and infuses each song with that sparkling, inspiring energy. He also cracks me up on a regular basis.

Debbie Stern brings her own brand of magic and spirit into our band. Her voice was borrowed from the angelic spheres and her songs are filled with love and compassion. Her love of music and the vibrations of spirit fill each song with expansive energy that touches the heart. When I heard her first original song I was blown away and insisted she bring all of the them to the band. You'll hear a lot of her wonderful songs on Saturday.

And finally. . . there is me. . . Dr Dreamwalker. It's my great privilege to play with such fantastic musicians who manifest my vision of a band. Tony, Dave, Daniel and Debbie electrify my original songs into a higher existence. I am thrilled to be with them.

This is a band I would go to hear. As one of my friends said, "What kind of rock and roll band is this? You guys actually like each other." As good as they are as musicians, they are better people. I can't wait for old friends, and friends we haven't met yet to hear us. I think you'll be amazed.

As John Lennon once said, "A splendid time is guaranteed for all."

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Dreamwalkers: Getting Ready to Play Out, Happy Belated Birthday, Daniel.

Hi all my Dreamwalkers out there,

Dreamwalkers Band had a kick ass rehearsal Monday evening. We are experiencing the enjoyment of growing our connection each other as we prep to play out. The music is reaching a higher level and that makes playing more fun. We had a good night, playing as if we were at the gig and rarely stopping. I had fun listening to Dave Ross sing some great covers and I always love Tony's guitar, Daniel's drums, and Debbie's vocals (especially on her original songs). We are ready for Saturday at Myakka Moonlighters.

We had an impromptu party for Daniel's birthday. Technically his birthday was last week, but since we had to cancel rehearsal we wanted to celebrate. Happy Birthday to the heartbeat of our band.

Hope to see old friends and meet new ones on Saturday at Myakka Moonlighters.

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Dreamwalkers: Myakka Moonlighters This Saturday

Hello all my Dreamwalkers out there,

The band is very excited about playing out at Myakka Moonlighters this Saturday, March 6 from 6-9 PM. The venue is really cool, outdoors, kid and family friendly, bring a cooler and chill with us. We've been preparing for some time for this and you'll be hearing songs from our upcoming album, "Music Is The Ride," as well as other original songs by Debbie Stern and myself, and some very sweet cover tunes you might not expect from a local band.

Last time we played this venue, we had an absolute blast and the people who came out seemed to have a fabulous experience. As a culture, we are bereft of live music.Live podcasts on Facebook are just not the same as being in the vibration of a band who really love their music. We fit that bill. Hope to see you Saturday.

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Dreamwalkers Album 2.0: Electric Guitars Completed, Vocals Next

Patrick Russini and I worked together to complete the rhythm electric guitars on our Dreamwalkers album. Every time I work with Pat I am more impressed with his professionalism and creativity. Pat hears at such an exquisite level and he is able to communicate his expertise in a caring and compassionate manner. He has a way of making everyone confident and happy during recording. We worked so hard to finish the guitars on the 16 songs the band presented and it is done.

The songs are taking shape and each song has an identity emerging, but there is an overall Dreamwalkers sound. The influences of artists we love can be heard, but there is a thread all our own.

For me it was a journey of regreeting old guitar friends and learning about the instruments in a way I had not before. Under the microscope of the recording session, the guitar does not only have to be "in tune" it has to sound right for the song. I've never played better and have an even greater appreciation of some of the gorgeous instruments I've been blessed to acquire.

Next, we begin vocal recording. Pat told me he has his own process he has developed for this. Debbie Stern and I cannot wait. It should be a blast.

"Life is an amusement park. . . Music is the ride."

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Dreamwalkers Album 2.0: Electric Guitars Picking Up Steam

Hey Dreamwalkers,

The album is moving forward again and is really picking up steam. I worked with Patrick Russini on Thursday regarding laying down background electric guitar tracks. We finished Debbie Stern's songs "How I Love to Love You, Lord," and "Louisiana Playing On My Mind," and my own "The Outsider." So we have now completed electric guitar tracks on 10 of the 16 songs. I will meet with Patrick over the weekend and sometime next week in hopes of completing this stage of the project. Once done, we can begin on the vocals. Once again, I am consistently amazed at Patrick's brilliance in creating a soundscape, which I know will get even better once effects are installed. If raw tracks sound this good, I can only imagine how beautiful this record will be upon completion. Along with the band starting to play out, and really coalescing as a group, the status of the album brings us much optimism and joy.

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Dreamwalkers Get Ready for Myakka Moonlighters

Dreamwalkers Band rehearsed Monday evening and began the process of locking in our setlist. We completed the first set and it was just wonderful. We went beyond our previous format, creating a few medleys and at least one big surprise, which I believe will make people's heads spin. The first set will include Debbie's original songs, "Don't Talk Behind My Back," "Dancing With The Man In The Moon," and "Good To See You Gone," Tony's "Road Song," and my "Man With The Guru Gaze," "The Outsider," and "Everything Is Changing," as well as some incredibly cool covers. The singing and musicianship have reached new heights and it's so gratifying to watch wonderful players integrating into a cohesive unit. We hope all our friends will join us at Myakka Moonlighters on Saturday, March 6 from 6-9 PM.

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker

Dreamwalkers Road Trip to see Shaun Hopper

Hi to all the Dreamwalkers out there,

Sunday evening, we went to Pesto, a restaurant in Cortez to see our good friend Shaun Hopper play, and as it turned out, we had an impromptu celebration of Tony Sheppard's birthday. Shaun had to overcome some technical glitches, but once he did, he was just fantastic, even playing four of his beautiful original songs.

However, it was after he was done that we had the most fun. Debbie Stern sang with him, Tony played a little and we all just hung out and shared views of music and the crazy world we live in. Shaun is an amazing player and a very generous musician.

Happy Birthday, Tony Sheppard.

Back in the studio on Thursday.

Peace

Dr Dreamwalker
