Dreamwalkers: Live Recording Process

Hello to all my Dreamwalkers out there,

Monday evening we did something different. Sound engineer Patrick Russini, had us all plugged directly into the computer, we had headphones with an individual mix for our own preferences, and we charged into Tony Sheppard's Road Song. We had trouble with it last week, but Pat installed a "click track" to keep us tight to the beat and the result was great. Setting up was painstaking, but worth the effort. Tony's song is kind of surf music meets Ghost Riders in the Sky. I love it. It's a lot of fun and Tony gets to show off his brilliant guitar playing.

Everyone was a little nervous as we began, but we pulled together and made some magic happen. I thank The Heartbeat, Daniel Polyak, for hanging in there as we made several passes on the song to get the sound right and coordinate the arrangement. Dave Ross was steady on the bass guitar, and Debbie Stern played keys. I hyper focused, as I felt I had to improve from the difficulties of last week, but I was able to hit my marks and felt good about it.

We continue tomorrow and will be done with drum tracks soon. Kudos to my bandmates and especially to Patrick Russini who produced something cool tonight.

Peace,

Dr Dreamwalker
